Ouroboros means ‘tail-devourer’ in Greek. Two snakes devouring each other’s tails are depicted in the form of a double infinity representing the idea of endless rebirth and renewal. It is an ancient symbol seen in many cultures as far back as ancient Egypt. It is the oldest allegorical symbol in alchemy and represents eternity and endless return, as well as the unity of time’s beginning and end.
